Meet The Artist: Robert McDuffie
World-renowned and Grammy-nominated violinist Robert McDuffie will present a free recital for the community on Wednesday, January 31 at 6:30 pm at the University of Hawaii’s Orvis Auditorium. He will also be joined by Hawaii Symphony concertmaster Ignace Jang, in a Q & A session. Robert McDuffie has appeared as soloist with most of the major orchestras of the world, including the New York and Los Angeles Philharmonics; the Chicago, San Francisco, National, and Atlanta. His numerous recordings include most recently his collaboration with REM’s Mike Mills in Concerto for Violin, Rock Band, and Orchestra. He is the founder of the Rome Chamber Music Festival and the Robert McDuffie Center for Strings at Mercer University.
Mr. McDuffie will be the featured soloist with the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra on January 27 and 28 at NBC. The recital is presented by the Hawaii Chamber Music Festival (HCMF) with producing partners Suzuki Association of Hawaii, Hawaii American String Teachers Association, the University of Hawaii, and ‘Iolani School in conjunction with the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra.
