Born and raised in Los Angeles, Cellist Daniel Lim began his studies at the age of 9 and holds degrees from the New England Conservatory and the Cleveland Institute of Music. His mentors include Yeesun Kim and Stephen Geber while cellists such as Joon Sung Jun and Robert DeMaine were also pivotal in his development. Daniel has had the opportunity to play for esteemed cellists such as Frans Helmerson, Ralph Kirshbaum, Laurence Lesser, Gary Hoffman, and Ron Leonard while also working with Leon Fleischer and members of the Cleveland, Julliard, Tokyo, Borromeo, St Lawrence, Cavani, New Orford, Ying, and Miami String Quartets. He is currently a regular performer at The Caroga Lake Music Festival and has attended prestigious festivals such as the Toronto Summer Music Festival, National Repertory Orchestra, Orford Arts Centre, and The Kent Blossom Music Festival. Daniel currently resides in Los Angeles and performs with various ensembles in the Los Angeles area. As an educator, he currently holds official certification as a Suzuki Method Instructor and has taught in various public schools as well as maintaining a private studio. When Daniel is not playing the cello, he loves to make people laugh with his unique sense of humor and has an unhealthy obsession with noodle dishes; he also hopes to someday become an amazing jazz cellist and a fluent Japanese speaker.
