Meeting A World-Class Artist

World-renowned and Grammy-nominated violinist Robert McDuffie came to Hawaii to perform a free recital for the community at the University of Hawaii-Manoa.

Also, Hawaii Symphony concertmaster Ignace Jang joined in emceeing the Q&A session right after the free concert.

Robert McDuffie has appeared as a soloist with most of the major orchestras of the world, including the New York and Los Angeles Philharmonics; the Chicago, San Francisco, National, and Atlanta. His numerous recordings include most recently his collaboration with REM’s Mike Mills in Concerto for Violin, Rock Band, and Orchestra.

He is the founder of the Rome Chamber Music Festival and the Robert McDuffie Center for Strings at Mercer University.

The recital was made possible by the Hawaii Chamber Music Festival with producing partners Suzuki Association of Hawaii, Hawaii American String Teachers Association, the University of Hawaii, and ‘Iolani School in conjunction with the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra.
