The opening ceremony for the Chamber Music Olympics featured violist and social media sensation, Drew Alexander Forde (@ThatViolaKid). This mini-performance hosted music by Ravel, Schumann, Piazzolla, and Tchaikovsky as well as concert exclusive works by Vieuxtemps, Paganini, and Bach.

The Wave of Life

The Hawaii Chamber Music Festival finished its second season in a collaborative concert with the Hawaii International Music Festival as they wrap up their third season. Based on the theme of water, HCMF and HIMF presented The Wave of Life, a program which will feature Franz Schubert’s celebrated String Quintet in C Major and other masterworks.

Bach, Beethoven, Brahms

The Hawaii Chamber Music Festival (HCMF) teamed up with the Hawaii International Music Festival (HIMF) in a multi-collaborative concert event featuring world-class classical musicians and scholarship quartet recipients from ‘Iolani School. HCMF and HIMF celebrated the life and legacy of Johann Sebastian Bach, Ludwig Van Beethoven, and Johannes Brahms. Known as the "three B's" (Bach, Beethoven, Brahms), HCMF Founder Chris Yick and HIMF Co-Founder Eric Silberger led this classical music holy trinity.

A Classical Flavor

HCMF showcased some of Hawaii’s finest classical musicians in a night of lush music paired with decadent desserts by Chef Chai and Cocolea. Together with Common Grace, a local keiki mentorship non-profit, we presented a program of great romantic works at Kaimuki Christian Church. All proceeds from this amazing dessert/music concert went to benefit Common Grace and Hawaii Chamber Music Festival.

HCMF will be going west and bring the gift of music to Kapolei’s own, American Renaissance Academy. An exciting, new partnership with the ARA, members of the community will be dazzled by some of Hawaii’s most talented youth artists led by Eric Silberger and HCMF Founder and bassist, Chris Yick. Themed “1234,” the whole program will consist of solos, duos, trios, and quartets.

An Evening With Eric Silberger

HCMF joined forces with Tchaikovsky prize-winning violinist and Hawaii International Music Festival Co-Founder Eric Silberger in an intimate evening recital at the University of Hawaii-Manoa. Virtuoso violinist Eric Silberger is a prize-winner of the XIV International Tchaikovsky Competition and the Michael Hill International Violin Competition in 2011.

Big Island Benefit: Dinner & Concert

Local classical musicians teamed up with renown Chef Chai to stage a benefit event to support response efforts to the Puna lava flow. In partnership with the Salvation Army, HCMF and Chef Chai hosted a Big Island Benefit Dinner and Concert. Proceeds from this event went directly to the Salvation Army's work in the Puna community.

Distinguished Artists of Hawaii

In collaboration with Bags of Aloha, HCMF concluded its first season by presenting an exciting night of chamber music featuring two of Hawaii's finest musicians. For this benefit concert, Hawaii Symphony Concertmaster and University of Hawaii violin faculty Ignace Jang joined forces with Honolulu Chamber Music Series President and University of Hawaii piano faculty Jonathan Korth.
